The Archives Committee was established to centralize, preserve, protect and make available the permanent records and materials which pertain to the origin, history, spirit and growth of Kitchener- Waterloo Oktoberfest.

The University of Waterloo agreed to maintain and preserve, at the Special Collections section of their library, all historical records of K-W Oktoberfest Inc.; including: written material, newspaper clippings, administrative & financial files and photographic material. This material is available to anyone interested in the history of Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest.

The main function of the Archives Committee has been to collect from all committees photographic material, edit it and then send it to UW for permanent keeping.

Each year Archives strives to have a pictorial history of all events and all volunteers, from all committees, to exemplify Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest.

The Archives Committee published “The First 40 Years” historical document for the 40th Anniversary. As well, they put together a yearbook for each two-year presidency term, to remember that period of the Festival. They are now planning for a written/pictorial history to be available for the 50th Anniversary of Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest. The 40th Anniversary document and two-year presidency yearbooks are available, from the K-W Oktoberfest Inc. office, for all volunteers. The 40th Anniversary document is also available online at

Currently, the Archives Committee is looking for additional volunteers who are interested in helping preserve all of the memories and historical information regarding Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest. If this appeals to you, please apply.
